Jeremy has been a part of the fire service for 7 years and has been assigned to the Rescue squad for most of that time. He enjoys dangling on the end of ropes, seeing students get excited about developing rescue skills, and annoying his fellow instructors with his “antics”.
Jeremy lives in the deep woods of Jessamine County with his wife of 15 years, 3 children, and Dalmatian. You will find him on an extended cycling endurance ride, reading a book on Stoicism, drinking tea, or googling reasons why “rescuers” are better than “riggers” (though the search never reveals the answers he’s looking for).
Nicknamed "Ben-Wah", he's a family man, an avid outdoorsman, and rock climber. He's been in the fire service for 20 years. He cut his teeth on the Heavy Rescue; setting the path of his career and has a passion for developing his skills, as well as, the skills of others through continuous training and application.
Ben-Wah has been actively involved with rope work (and play) since the age of 12. He brings a diverse skill-set to each class drawing on his exposure to the vast amount of rope disciplines, and real world rope rescues/ rope rescue operations.
His rope experience has taken him around the globe and he's eager to share his knowledge through hands-on application and realistic scenarios.
Officially, he's the team lead, but would rather root his identity with the team as a Rigger; without question the most critical role on the team...no matter what a Rescuer may tell you.
I grew up around the fire service and I’m a 3rd generation firefighter. I’ve been working full time for 6 years with time in 2 departments. I’ve always had a passion for every aspect of the fire service.
Outside the fire service I work on a farm and do a little construction. I’ve found that using skills and knowledge that I’ve acquired throughout different professions help me become more rounded and efficient at work.
In the rescue game I identify as a rigger (The lords work). I enjoy the challenge of building and operating complex systems. I’ve learned from world class instructors and I want to pass knowledge on to anyone who will listen.
33 years old with 6 years in the Fire Service. Married with one daughter. Baseball coach/instructor for 15 years. I’ve been fortunate to learn different aspects of instructing that has allowed me to be competent in reaching out to different learning styles regardless of age, abilities, and personalities.
Outside of the fire service and the game of baseball I love getting my hands on things that challenge me. From learning trade skills from 7 years of manufacturing factory work to learning how to properly stripe a yard when mowing, I take pride in my work.
I love meeting people and learning their passions. I’ve learned so much from simple conversations with individuals that share their passions to the point where I become inspired as well. This is from me always looking to improve or always looking at myself as “green”. The day I stop learning is the day I hang it up for good or close that chapter of my life.
